We had a great Sunday lunch at the East Putney Tavern, only three of us, and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. Two of us had the Sunday roast chicken & beef, it was a very good helping.
We also had a very tall, happy & friendly lady server. She was excellent, and we will definitely return in the future.
Good strong local, great beer and wine selection. Had the sausage roll, fried chicken and steak. Really enjoyed the fried chicken and dipping sauce. The steak and sausage roll were okay and not really worth the cost.
Been here multiple times for dinner and drinks. Good atmosphere. Decent food menu and good variety of drinks. Staff are always pleasant. Seems to attract a good crowd.
Nice location and bottomless brunch food and drinks were nice. The atmosphere didn’t have music or entertainment which would have made the experience more enjoyable.
I was going to Putney. I am not very good at eating an adults meal, as I have a problem with my tummy. I really just wanted a child meal. I did call the pub prior to my arrival. The staff was very helpful! The food look good, oh my goodness, the gravy was so dangerous salty, it made me feel sick. All the food was cold. Beautiful looking Yorkshire puds, which were cold dry and could of used as a hammer. They did replace the food. The replacement chicken was hot and potatoes. I left the rest!, the pud were still the same, rock hard, gravy not so salty.
Sorry to say even though this was a childs potion. So glad I didnt pay an adult's price. I am glad I didnt give this to a child
Let me start by saying the service is sooo amazing. The guys on shift were all so beautiful and warm and friendly.
The food wasn’t amazing though.
Had the sirloin roast with a side of cauliflower cheese.
The side was tasty but was the only thing served hot.
The roast, was like warm and was so incredibly salty. I am the type of guy that usually adds salt. There was none on the table so I went in without, it was incredibly salty. The cut of meat was full of fat and sinew. It was hard to cut through or chew through. I almost choked as it didn’t cut through when I chewed and swallowed. Very average roast.
Went in for a sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The ice cream had crystallised, like it had melted and been refrozen and the pudding, well it was basically just a toffee flavoured cake with some caramel sauce on the side.
Atmosphere wise; was okay but we were seated at a table right up the back away from any other patrons so zero atmosphere.
I’d go back for a pint but wouldn’t risk it for food a second time. Not when it was almost £19 for the roast alone.
Great Sunday Roast.
The dry aged steak runs out quickly.
The branch is also very delicious.
Love the atmosphere and the friendly staff.
Nice looking pub. Nice vibe but food was pretty awful. We had calamari to start, fish and chips and the bacon burger. The calamari had been over-fried till very dark in a very salty batter. It was so cooked, past rubbery, it was just tough and didn’t taste of anything in particular aside from salt. Then chopped chilli was sprinkled on top. No real reason for the chilli, it wasn’t incorporated into the batter or a dipping sauce literally just sprinkled on top. Serviced with lime as if Asian but no Asian spice or pink to tie any of it together. Very odd.
The fish didn’t have a crispy skin, in fact was soft although looked like it should be crispy. The fish itself was over-cooked and randomly garnished with large granules of salt. An odd choice of garnish and means you get crunchy, very salty mouthfuls. The burger was better but it was still a preformed burger not worth coming here for. Service was friendly, but not particularly attentive. It’s a place to come for a drink but not much more. Shame.
